VI(R)AL & Stay the Course | 2010 | Mixed Media | Dimensions Variable

These corresponding works explore California as one of the leading golf  course-congested states in the United States and the related issues of  water commodit- ization in the proliferation of this spectacle.

Vi(r)al uses sculptural and digital elements to plot the  1,137 golf course points using water-filled vials in a fashion that  exhibits the infestation/tumoresque geospatial positioning across the  state.

Stay the Course is an accompanying work that presents the  data on these courses (name, address, contact, etc) in a stark and  austere display encased in glass and flanked by stanchions. The state  protection and preservation of the golf/tourism industry is signified in  this inaccessible presentation.

VI(R)AL & STAY THE COURSE

UNLIKE DAUGHTER, LIKE SON | 2006| Mixed Media | Dimensions Variable

Process sculptures  most recently exhibited at the USF Contemporary Art Museum. Each is  composed of thousands of individually hand-labeled pills and pill  bottles that read "mother" and "father." The relationship between  pharmaceutical substances and my inheritance was explored during the  meticulous and obsessive fabrication of these works. Each exists as a  testament to my diligent efforts to resolve the post-traumatic fears and  anxieties surrounding my mother and brother’s drug-related deaths,  while also questioning my own fate.
